The phenomenal Adele, was justly rewarded at the grammys 2012. She took home awards for "Record of the Year"for "Rolling in the Deep," Album of the Year," for "Adele's "21,"and "Song of the Year." also for "Rolling in the Deep."

If you were there or watched the grammys 2012 on television, you were treated to the stunning live performance of "Rolling in the Deep." Mind you, she delivered this performance after a recent throat surgery. It was her first live appearance since the operation.

In addition to the record, album and song of the year, Adele's 21 took "Best Pop Vocal Album," "Best Pop Solo Performance" (for "Someone Like You,") and "Best Short For Music Video" (for "Rolling in the Deep.")

Born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, this impressive and one-of-a-kind talent started her journey to pop stardom when she was only 14. At this young age she essentially decided what she would do with the rest of her life; lucky for us. The opportunity presented itself in the form of her dad's best friend, who happened to be a dance producer.

He asked her to record a cover of "Heart of Glass" and the rest is recent history. Her influences include Etta James (no secret there,) Jeff Buckley, The Cure and as she puts it, 'proper poets.' Adele says she enjoys writing poetry and hearing it in song lyrics.

She poured these influences into her adele 21 album, a project she describes as being about "being between 18 and 19; about love...being cheated on and not getting what you want."

Although Adele's family was not musical, she was admitted to The Brit School, the Selhurst college that once hosted Amy Winehouse. At the school she picked up a new influence, that of vocalist Shingai Shoniwa, from a group called the Noisettes. All of this contributed to her first smash singles like "Chasing Pavements," and would soon lead to her grammy 2012 award marathon.

What does Adele have planned for the future? A possible collaboration between her and Jessie J? Maybe a family? Well, not anytime soon. In an interview with Vogue the 22 year old singer says, "I do get massively distracted when I've got someone in my life, which I can't afford to do right now. Besides, no one treats me as well as I do."  Works for us. Please don't let anything distract from making more groundbreaking music!
